People exist simultaneously in two planes: the physical and the spiritual. However, most of us rarely give thought to the latter. The physical (or material) plane is our focus, because our five senses are specifically designed to interact with that realm. This world can be touched, tasted, felt, seen and heard by our senses and this forms the basis for our day-to-day reality. The spiritual plane, on the other hand, cannot be approached by our senses. Our ability to perceive the spiritual is limited to an awareness we can sometimes feel inwardly and through the intersection of thought streams.
If you ever had the hair rise on the back of your neck due to an unexplained eerie feeling or felt like you were having an intense argument with yourself over some matter that conflicted you, you were likely being impacted by the spirit realm. The very, realization that there is a spirit world and an understanding that we can be impacted by it, opens the door to a form of self-discovery that Bruce Lee attributed to making him the most famous and revered Martial Arts master in history. Master Lee believed his ability to tap into the spiritual realm through concentration and focus enabled him to transcend physical barriers, accounting for his unbelievable speed and seemingly mystical abilities. It stands to reason that any of us may be able to attain higher levels of ability and knowledge through a stronger connection with our spiritual selves, as Bruce Lee himself advocated.
In the same way that athletes are said to be “in the zone”, having a strong inner connection with your spiritual self can enable you to operate at levels of awareness and efficiency exceeding what would normally be possible given the circumstances and your physical limitations. “Lifting someone’s spirits” is another example of how we connect with others to help them find a higher plane of thought and thereby improve their condition. Certainly, overcoming a great fear or terrible hardship after you feel like you just can’t go any further or take anymore is an example of spiritual fortitude. These are just a few examples of how our spirituality can impact our lives, but to be able to focus this power in ourselves we need to exercise our spiritual selves, just as we would our bodies for physical development.
There are a number of paths one might take on the journey to explore and develop their spiritual selves; yoga, fine arts, meditation, music, martial arts, nature and religion are some ways that people can find doorways into themselves and gain a better understanding of the Spirit world. However, I believe with great conviction the best way to grow in your spirit is through Jesus Christ. I say “best” in that there really are many ways one can tap into their spirituality and grow in self-awareness, but some of those paths are dangerous (e.g., the occult), many just go in circles (e.g., new age philosophies) and only one will connect your spirit with its soul.
The connection between one’s spirit and one’s soul is the key. To distinguish: our spirit is the energy force within us that animates our body and is powered by God’s Spirit, whereas our souls are the life force within us that gives us our personality and individuality. However, they are connected and work in concert. That enables us to be vulnerable to spirit beings who can manipulate our minds and sometimes our bodies if we are weak or unaware. Opening certain “spiritual doors” can enable bad actors, like demons, to infiltrate minds and attack our souls. I believe this is often the case when we hear of the most heinous crimes; the ones that have us collectively shaking our heads in wonderment of how humans can be so cruel to each other.
By following Christ, your spirit quest will circumvent traps designed to lure your soul into spiritual danger; it’s the only path lit by Absolute Truth. This makes it the most powerful path of spiritual self-discovery; not only will you receive gifts of The Spirit that will aid and empower you in the here and now, but it’s the only spiritual path that extends all the way to the finish line; Perfect Freedom and Personal Salvation. So, I encourage you to seriously think about your own spirit quest; there is much information on the topic and most of it is fascinating!
There is just so much more than what we can see that is waiting to be discovered! Whatever path you choose, I wish you blessings and enlightenment in your search.

Such a pleasant post to read!

It was with great pleasure I read your comment, albeit so long afterward. I had all but given up on the website as no one seemed to care. Though I never tried to promote it. However, I am encouraged now and just wanted to thank you for stopping by Spirit Quest Garden. I do believe our spirituality is the most underrated and underutilized aspect of our existence. God bless.
